PGDM Course| Examination FAQ’s


Q1. What are the components of Assessments?
Ans: Each core and elective course have two components of assessment namely Continuous Assessment and End Term Examination.


Q2. What grading system is used for evaluation?
Ans: The 10-point Grading system is used. The details of the same are available in the Exam department.


Q3. What are the kinds of Continuous Assessments?
Ans: Continuous Assessments are of various kinds of viz. Multiple-choice questions, Written tests, Numerical-based tests, Case studies, Caselet, Viva, Projects, Research papers etc. There are three continuous assessments for three credit courses and there is only one continuous assessment for half credit courses.


Q4. What is the pattern of End Term Examination?
Ans: Depending upon the nature of the subject/course, the End Term Examination is conducted for sixty marks in the pattern of written examination, Viva, Practical examination etc.


Q5. What kinds of questions are asked in the Examination?
Ans: The examination comprises of theoretical questions to assess the learner on:

  • Analytical, Conceptual and Comprehension ability
  • Case or problem-solving ability


Q6. When are the End Term Examinations Conducted?
Ans: The End Term Examination is held at the end of each semester.


Q7: Is there any project in my programme?
Ans: In the programme, students are required to complete a project (SIP) during their third semester, focusing on their chosen area of specialization.


Q8: Is there any additional fee to appear in the End-Term Examination?
Ans: There is no fee to be paid to attempt the regular End-Term Exams in the scheduled Exam Cycle. However, students are liable to pay for backlog examinations.


Q9. What is the Passing Criteria?
Ans: Passing Criteria is as follows:
To be declared a ‘Pass’ in the course a student should secure 50% marks in Internal and External components individually and in aggregate.
For every course, there are three Continuous Assessments of twenty marks each which are mandatory to attempt.
Summer Internship Project is to be submitted by the student in the third semester in the Two Year programme. The student should secure a minimum 50% marks in a Project Work to be declared as a “Pass”. For the successful completion of the programme, it is mandatory to ‘Pass’ each course including project work/comprehensive viva as applicable.


Q10. How do we know about exam dates?
Ans: The exam timetable is circulated through the exam mail ID. You can also find it on the notice board in the ISBS PGDM Building.


Q11. What is examination process?
Ans: The evaluations are conducted throughout the semester. The assessment is divided into two parts i.e., Internal exam (Continuous Assessments) and End Term Examination. Additionally, different projects/viva are also required to be cleared in various semesters.


Q12. How are the End-Term exams conducted?
Ans: Depending upon the nature of the subject/course, the End Term Examination is conducted for sixty marks in the pattern of written examination, Viva, Practical examination etc. It carries a weightage of 60%. For End - Term exams students must fill exam forms 15 - 20 days before the scheduled exam. However, these exams are conducted under CCTV Surveillance.


Q13. What happens if I am unable to appear for my exam at the scheduled time or if I fail an exam?
Ans: In both instances, you can appear for backlog exams by filling up the relevant exam form online and paying prescribed per subject backlog examination fees. Each student has 05 attempts (01 regular + 04 backlog) to clear the subject.


Q14. When I will get my Marksheet?
Ans: Mark Sheets will be available within fifteen working days after the declaration of the results in the examination department.


Q15. Is there any revaluation process available?
Ans: Yes, students can apply online for revaluation by paying the prescribed fee per subject. A student can apply for a maximum of three courses which includes both full and half-credit courses for revaluation. The revised marks will be considered as final marks. This process is applicable ONLY for End Semester examination.


Q16. Can I get Grace Marks if I am not able to clear a Course?
Ans: There is no provision for Grace Marks.


Q17. What if I cannot clear any subject within permissible attempts?
Ans: If students do not clear the subject within a permissible attempt, they have to re-register themselves by paying the prescribed re-registration fee and exam fee per subject.


Q18. Is there any provision for Class Improvement?
Ans:A student can apply for Class improvement within one year after completion of the Program with prior approval from the Controller of Examination. Class Improvement does not apply to Project work.


Q19. If I lost my original mark sheet OR degree certificate?
Ans: You can apply for a duplicate mark sheet OR degree certificate within the prescribed application format and the required documents to be attached with the application and need to pay the prescribed fee.


Q20. How can I get my Transcript Certificate?
Ans:You can apply for a Transcript Certificate within the prescribed application format and the required documents to be attached with the application and need to pay the prescribed fee.
