CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Indira School of Business Studies PGDM believes in the holistic development of students and though the academic calendar forms the basis of the agenda, abundant cynosure is given to co-curricular activities. In order to mold productive and result oriented managers of the future, we conduct the Career Development Program, which is taught concurrently to the main program. Unique and innovative co-curriculum activities are initiated at ISBS PGDM which focus on the extra edge that students need in their personality to succeed in a competitive environment.

ISBS PGDM owes its gratitude to the Global Industry for consistently collaborating with us in our endeavor towards adding value to our students by helping us create customized programs based on our state of the art teaching, research and consulting techniques. Renowned industrialists visit us and boost the learning of our students, by sharing their vast knowledge and experiences. These initiatives have enabled us to foster strategic alliances with the industry which has translated into knowledge packed initiatives at ISBS PGDM.

In house training centers by Industry & Joint Certification Programs with the Industry:

Indira Group has collaborated with some of the prominent corporates to provide domain and functional training to its students. Some the associations are as follows:

ICICI Securities:

Trains the finance students on Personal Finance & Wealth Management through practical exposure and classroom training of 16 hrs. ICICI has also established a training cell at ISBS PGDM.

Deloitte:

Deloitte Support Services India Pvt. Ltd and Indira Group of Institutes offer Joint Certification Programme (JCP). The association allows the training of students on domain as well as soft skills. Each student who successfully completes the JCP is eligible for applying to Deloitte for final placement. Such an exposure increases the placement probability multi fold in the companies from the similar sectors such as Deloitte.

HDFC Bank:

Indira along with HDFC bank conducts a joint certificate program for Indira students in banking.

ICICI Bank:

Indira along with ICICI bank conducts Online Banking Modules.

Certification Courses:

ISBS PGDM has collaborated with agencies to provide certification courses to students in respective domain, such as Technical Analysis, Financial Modeling, Financial Analytics, Job analysis, Competency Mapping, Payroll Management, Innovation Management, Personality Development and the likes. Such workshops provide insights to students into various predictive tools which can be used in the conduct of work in the industry.

Field Projects with Industry Visits:

Students at ISBS PGDM are required to complete field projects within the industry. ISBS PGDM students are engaged with companies such as Future Group, Transmission Pvt. Ltd, General Motors India Pvt. Ltd, Cap Gemini, Saint Gobain, E- clerx, Cummins India, Bajaj Finserv, Kelloggs India & Bajaj Allianz etc. in the academic year 2018-19.

Industry Interface through Seminars and Conferences:

ISBS PGDM has continuously strived for the best corporate exposure to its students, as it firmly believes that a strong industry-academic interface plays a pivotal role in enriching the learning experience at a B-School. Thus, a judicious blend of theme seminars, panel discussions, conferences, guest lectures, CEO interactions, and academic sponsorship of national and international corporate events, research activities & field studies are constantly a part of the curriculum.

Industry Interface through Corporate Leadership Awards:

Indira Group is a pioneer in hosting corporate excellence award functions to recognize corporate excellence and contributions of young corporate achievers. Such recognitions are conferred by way of annual ceremonies such as Marketing, Finance & HR summits hosted on campus.

Business Incubation at ISBS PGDM:

Existing students with Business Plans identified with the potential to get converted to start-up companies find a conducive platform at ISBS PGDM at pre-revenue stage to get incubated in the Institute and develop their product prototypes and business models before they take it forward as a fully functional small enterprise. ISBS PGDM offers students the benefit of available infrastructure, active mentoring and guidance, access to business networks and other resources from the Institute.

Guest Faculty from Industry:

Guest Speakers from the Industry are invited regularly to share their valuable experiences in various fields with the students. This enables students to understand and relate the complexities of business with conceptual knowledge imparted in the Institute.

ISBS PGDM imparts training to students through visits to the industry. Simulation:

ISBS PGDM conducts Simulation Exercise in association with The Learning Curve Academy. The students learn about financial planning by playing an Online simulation game and attending classroom sessions.

The Finance GYM game is an Online interactive game, in which the students create and manage a virtual portfolio with real investment products to achieve the financial goals they have been given. By playing this game, they learn the basics of financial planning, including basic financial terminology, tax planning and insurance.

English Language Proficiency:

ISBS PGDM conducts special course in English for students who are not having the expected level of proficiency in English. It is a mandate @ ISBS PGDM for students who are weak in English to complete this course and reach a certain level of proficiency. English is a global language for business all over the world. It has resulted in the knowledge of English, being a near-mandatory requirement for critical jobs. Apart from having an impressive command over spoken English, today’s competitive corporate culture demands an equally impressive command over written English as well. It is mainly because almost all forms of business communication such as emails, presentations, sales and marketing and even corporate legal documentation are now carried out in English. Thus, it is imperative to have a certain level of proficiency in English for management trainees.

Ozone:

A bridge building activity to cater to the expectations of the industry from the management graduates, ISBS PGDM provides the students with a skill development activity called “OZONE”. Industry experts train the students on their interview skills, group discussions and summer internship project presentation. In this program the students are given an insight on how they can portray the applicability of their project work in the organization that they would be joining.

Psychometric Testing

Students undergo psychometric testing by certified agencies. This enables them to identify their areas of strength and also helps the students to realize the functional area in which their aptitude lies.

Personality Development Program

Language Leadership Lab:

Indira School of Business Studies PGDM focuses not only on imparting knowledge on various technical domains but also lays high emphasis on improving the Communication skills of students. Language Leadership Program works on students to improve their Spoken English skills and Soft skills so that they can communicate effectively in various situations. It prepares students in Reading, Speaking, listening and writing skills in English Language. These sessions are extravagantly extensive, highly result oriented and are conducted by a highly experienced trainer.

To accomplish the objective, ISBS PGDM has a well-equipped audio- visual “English LAB” with the latest technology to enhance interactive learning. The LAB has software that help the students to learn and grade themselves on various parameters

The LAB is developed on the methodology of Listening, Speaking, Writing and Reading skills.

It has the following interactive modules:

  • Vocabulary Building modules
  • Self-Paced Reading Exercises

Soft Skill Development:

Besides communication skills, ISBS PGDM aims to nurture and empower its future managers with domain knowledge, by sharpening appropriate soft skills to meet the ever-changing needs of modern globalized business procedures. Programs are calculatedly process driven with content standardization, validation of execution and with appropriate trainer selection as per the requisite skills.

The Program includes inputs on:

  • Positive Thinking and Motivation.
  • Time Management, People Skills, Business Etiquette.
  • Personal Grooming, Hygiene and many more.

Students Mentoring:

ISBS PGDM firmly believes in molding future managers by providing personalized guidance in their development. Towards this end, a mentoring program has been institutionalized to counsel them on the key attributes to become effective managers and future leaders. The program also covers issues connected with the recruitment and selection process of managers and how the students can confidently face such processes.

MOOCs

ISBS PGDM integrated MOOCs – Massive Online Open Courses in the curriculum. ISBS PGDM offer few MOOCs as a compulsory module to students along with certain MOOCs of their choice. MOOC’s are a new model for online courses that have quickly gained interest and support in higher education world-wide. MOOCs allow students to complete full courses of study in a non-traditional format, a certificates for course completion integrated into programs ISBS PGDM already offers. MOOCs basically are technologies involved courses which includes video lectures, discussion forums, tests, and assignments. MOOCs are built on efficiency of scale, giving access to the teaching of a world class professor to thousands of students at once. The lectures, assessments and activities for a course – especially an online course – and the expertise of the professor behind the content. A MOOC throws open the door of the professor’s classroom, allowing them to teach more than just a few students at a time.

Considering the global demand for online learning and the rapid rise in the number of Indian students enrolling for MOOCs, it is clear that the interest in MOOCs will continue to grow in India. Government recognizing the power of MOOCs: The Union Budget FY18 focused on providing entrepreneurship, education and training in 2,200 colleges, 500 government industrial training institutes, 300 schools and 50 vocational training centers via MOOCs. Another major initiative proposed in the Budget was the launch of digital literacy schemes to reach six crore rural households in the next three years. This indicates the government’s intentions to uplift online education in India. The AICTE has also been advocating incorporating MOOCs in technical courses through “Swayam” Portal. ISBS PGDM offers few MOOCs as a compulsory module to students along with certain MOOCs of their choice.

Webinars:

Webinar, being the latest tool in teaching and pedagogy, ISBS PGDM incorporated webinars in the methodology. A webinar is an event held on the internet which is attended exclusively by an online audience. Defying all the latest communication trends towards everything being shorter and quicker, the average viewing time for webinars is increasing year on year, and currently stands at an average of 56 minutes! From a teaching and educational perspective, webinars are interesting because of high degree of interaction, helping participants to learn and understand more quickly.

Smart Classrooms:

ISBS PGDM believes in providing world-class education to its students through state of the art facilities such as smart classrooms. Quality education is an essential requisite in today’s competitive environment. Technology has affected mankind in every aspect. The smart classrooms at ISBS PGDM have a modernized method of education that provides quality education to students by helping them in better concept formation, concept elaboration, improvement in reading skills and academic achievements. Smart Classroom devices make classroom environment extremely amazing for the learners and facilitators and it also serves as an aid for better retention and recollection as the students can access the content post-session from anywhere on their laptops or mobile phones.
