PGDM Marketing 19-21 Course Outline



PGDM – Marketing program is approved by AICTE and is a specialized two years course in Marketing. In the emerging environment, marketing management with its customer centric focus assumes a predominant status. This philosophy reflects in the PGDM -Marketing curriculum and the flexibility accorded to the program keeps the student abreast of the trends in the field of business and assures greater articulation of the same.

PGDM – Marketing curriculum prepares the students for functional specialization in Marketing. In this program, besides general management input, students are offered sectorial specialization electives in terms of preparing them for career in sector verticals. The PGDM – Marketing students can specialize in function-sector combination through the electives offered. Additionally, skill based subjects such as Skills Enhancement Lab, IT Skills Lab, to name a few, help to enhance the students’ managerial skills. To prepare the students for industry specific requirements a course on C2C (Campus to Corporate) Marketing is included in the curriculum.

Assessment Pattern:

The evaluation is based on credit points allocated to subjects which are either 3 credit or 2 credit courses with 3 credit Summer Internship Program (SIP). Marks are allocated on the basis of theoretical as well as practical subject knowledge. For a full credit subject 60 marks are allocated for final written examination and 40 marks are allocated on the basis of continuous internal evaluation which comprise case studies, presentations, field work project, objectives tests and written assessments etc. For a half credit subject internal evaluation of 50 marks is based on case studies, presentation, field works, objectives tests etc. A judicious mix of internal continuous evaluation and external assessment has been adopted to ensure that students get a consistent and fair assessment for their performance in a subject.

At the end of the first year, the students are required to undertake project work assignment (Summer Internship Program) in an organization. The project assignment is intended to give the students an opportunity to sharpen their knowledge and skills in their selected Industry Sectors of Business and also serves as a stepping stone for their final career. The Project Work Assignment Program is of a duration of 60 days and a detailed project report of dissertation is submitted for full grade evaluation after the completion of the aforesaid before the beginning of the second year. In the second year the students undergo intensive training in specialized marketing subjects with immense stress on learning through case studies and field projects of actual interaction within the industry.

Each Student has to complete 100 Credits to qualify for certification in the following manner –

  • 32 Core Courses amounting to 88 Credits are compulsory for all students regardless Specialization.
  • The remaining 12 credits he/she has to complete by opting for the specified number of electives from the set of electives being offered.
